What is staking ?

An increasing number of crypto currencies are moving away from the concept of «proof of work» originally introduced by Bitcoin at its inception in 2009 and used to secure the distribution of decision power across the nodes securing its blockchain.

The new concept called «proof of stake» is used to secure most new blockchains distributes decision power based on the amount of coins assigned / staked on each of the nodes securing a blockchain.

Why bother ?

As a compensation for locking their crypto coins on one or more validators in order to optimize the distribution of decision power between the nodes validating the transactions of a blockchain, stakers get rewards on a regular basis. The rules about how long the funds have to be staked, what the rewards are and under which conditions they are paid, depends on the set of rules set by each crypto currency.

How to stake ?

It is not only the rules about how and when stakers are rewarded that are different from currency to currency but also the steps necessary to stake some funds. At the moment stakers.zone delivers tutorials for the following crypto currencies (click the logos below to see the tutorials)
